TNTP
Supplemental Health Care is dedicated to creating more equality in the classroom so that all students can learn. As such, we are proud to partner with TNTP (formerly known as The New Teacher Project), a group that seeks to “end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom.”
Operation Happy Nurse
SHC is committed to better supporting our nurses and other healthcare professionals and to ease the shortage of skilled caregivers. We proudly partner with Operation Happy Nurse, which exists to support nurses’ mental health and wellbeing. This organization offers a free, online community focused on improving overall mental health and physical wellbeing for certified nurses, regardless of their tenure, level, or specialty.
Love for Literacy
Love for Literacy is a nonprofit organization created by a Supplemental Health Care speech-language pathologist, Dr. Kelly Byrd to promote literacy among black families. This organization seeks to create more positive family literacy experiences, to share multicultural literature and activities that are more reflective of black children and their lived experiences, and to find new and exciting ways to engage in literacy practices. Supplemental Health Care is proud to sponsor book donations and family literacy resources in our partner school districts with Love for Literacy.
NATIONAL BLACK NURSES ASSOCIATION
For over 50 years, the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA)has provided a forum for advocacy and coalition building, promoting culturally congruent care. The association supports Black nurses, as well as their patients and communities, through signature programs, continuing education, scholarship opportunities, and health policy. NBNA’s mission is “to serve as the voice for Black nurses and diverse populations ensuring equal access to professional development, promoting educational opportunities and improving health.”
Supplemental Health Care is proud to support NBNA in their work advocating for Black nursing professionals and quality healthcare for persons of color. SHC supports NBNA’s continued mission to help address diversity in nursing and health equity.
