Most of the time, when someone receives a message from their manager on their day off, the news might not be what someone wants to hear. However, for Eulanda A., RN, BSN, this particular message was uplifting and affirmed the positive impact that she strives for, on and off the job.
Eulanda’s manager wanted to let her know that she had been recognized twice during manager rounds at the hospital for going above and beyond to provide exceptional care to her patients. According to her recruiting manager, Terrance, this isn’t unusual: Eulanda routinely receives glowing feedback from both co-workers and patients about how wonderful she is.
Eulanda has been in healthcare professionally for over a decade, but her exposure to being a care provider began years before. When a family member was battling chronic illnesses, she worked alongside others in her family who were professionally trained and certified to provide care and treatment. Witnessing how they utilized their skills and training while demonstrating compassion, empathy, and respect made a lasting impression on her and drove her interest in pursuing a career in healthcare.
Unfortunately, when that same family member was hospitalized, Eulanda saw that the hospital staff did not provide the same level of care and dignity. That experience galvanized Eulanda, shaping her lifelong approach to positivity as a nurse and driving her to prioritize providing dignified care to others.
“Throughout my journey, I’ve faced challenges that felt unfair and unsettling,” she explains. “These experiences have been truly difficult. As a result, I have made a personal commitment to manage challenging situations gracefully and not let negativity affect those around me during tough times. While interacting with my patients, colleagues, and community, I strive to demonstrate empathy that empowers me to deliver compassionate care.”
Eulanda’s approach and attitude clearly exemplify Supplemental Health Care’s Care More spirit. She empowers everyone she encounters to realize their self-worth, value, and belonging while providing the utmost compassionate care. It is easy to see why she has such a profound impact on those around her.
“I don’t consider my challenges extraordinary; I accept them as part of my journey,” she says. “Every person encounters daily struggles and carries a unique life story. Therefore, I aim to find equilibrium amidst these obstacles to function at my fullest potential.”
After learning she was SHC’s Care More Spotlight recipient, Eulanda emphasized how vital the relationship is with her recruiting manager, Terrance. She credits him for supporting her with compassion, understanding, and exceptional communication skills throughout her assignments.
