Supplemental Health Care Announces Partnership with Operation Happy Nurse

December 8, 2021

Park City, Utah, December 12, 2021 – Supplemental Health Care (SHC) has announced a philanthropic partnership with the non-profit organization, Operation Happy Nurse (OHN) to help combat rising mental health and wellness concerns in the nursing community.

Supplemental Health Care has chosen Operation Happy Nurse to be their next philanthropic partner because nurses’ mental health and wellness is a cause very close to their hearts. With the continued effects of the pandemic, burnout, and the nursing shortage, the healthcare industry must support nurses and other healthcare professionals in the valuable and essential work that they do.

Operation Happy Nurse conducted a survey of nurses in 2018 that found “roughly 90% of nurses surveyed have experienced anxiety and depression associated with their nursing careers.” And those numbers were pre-pandemic.

A more recent survey from Vivian found that compared to last year, 72% reported that morale has declined in their hospital or healthcare facility and that more nurses are considering leaving the healthcare industry now. Vivian also found that there were significant concerns amongst nurses that their employers were not doing enough to support their mental health and wellbeing.

Supplemental Health Care is committed to helping nurses feel safe, supported, and happy in their careers. With Operation Happy Nurse, SHC has joined the effort to improve mental health and wellness in the healthcare community.
