Compassionate, quality healthcare is typically the result of great teamwork. And it’s that collective effort that draws Destiny Sanders to her career as a medical social worker.
“I love the medical and social work team I am able to work alongside,” she explains. Destiny is driven by the opportunity to support patients and families with empathy and to be able to bring her voice to champion quality patient care. After five years in the field, she is on her very first travel assignment and is already making an impact.
When Destiny chose her career path, she wanted to be able to touch lives and help support people in need. In her words, “Social work has allowed me to advocate for change, stand up for what is just and fair, and make a difference in individuals’ lives.”
The manager where Destiny is working has been so impressed with her work that they felt compelled to send a note of gratitude and appreciation. Destiny has been described as a joy to work with and always going above and beyond the call of duty.
“Thank you for the care and commitment you’ve shown toward our SICU patients, families, and providers— it truly makes a difference,” the manager shared with Destiny. “We’re grateful to have you on the team!”
Even though she is a first-time traveler, Destiny and her dog, Royal, have embraced the adventure and are making the most of being in the Northeast during the winter months. Destiny was thrilled to receive positive feedback from the facility and expressed how welcoming everyone has been.
“My current contract has been nothing shy of an amazing experience,” she writes. “I have been able to work with a wonderful medical team and social workers providing optimal health care to patients and families.”
Destiny is quick to credit her recruiter for making the transition to traveling seamless and comfortable. She describes how joining SHC has fueled her passion for traveling and creating new experiences, and how the SHC team’s support has helped her succeed on this travel assignment.
“I strive to show up as my best self every day in my role,” she explains. “I lead with compassion and grace, and I care for others how I’d want to be cared for.”
This sentiment captures why Destiny has been so successful in her social work career. Her commitment and compassion embody Supplemental Health Care’s culture of caring and have earned her the SHC Care More Spotlight award.
